Governing Board > FAQ

Q. Are any positions (Board or appointed) paid positions?
There are no Board Members that are paid positions. The Recognized Show Manager, Show Secretary and other appointed positions may be paid if agreed upon by the Board. (Article VII, Section 2, Subsection I, b. 1))

Q. Are Board Members eligible for Year End Awards?
Yes, but it depends upon the awards. Board Members are not eligible for awards that are voted upon such as Rookie Cookie, Most Contributing, and Education Award.

Q. How are conflicts of interest handled by the Board?
Conflicts of interest only affect Board Members and not the general membership. If a Board Member is aware of a conflict of interest, then the Board Member in question will be excused from voting on the issue. (Article III, Section 2)

Q. What are the requirements for being a Board member?
The requirements for being a Board Member are:
• Shall be a member of good standings with CTDS;
• Shall be able to sign a contract in the State of Texas (i.e. Must be over 18 years of age);
• Cannot have another family member on the Board; and
• If running for President, shall have previously served on the Board as a Board Member or Appointed Committee Chair for at least one year. (Article III, Section 5)

Q. What are the requirements for being an appointed position?
Any person, regardless of age, membership to CTDS, or possible relation to a Board Member, may submit his/her credentials to the Board for consideration for an appointed position. The only exception is if the person is volunteering to be the Recognized Show Manager or Recognized Show Secretary. In that situation, the person shall meet the requirements of a Board Member (Article IV, Section 3).

Q. What recourse do I have if I do not agree with the Board?
Please keep in mind that CTDS is a nonprofit organization with a volunteering governing body made up of its own members. If a CTDS member feels the Board as a whole is not acting in the best interests of CTDS, a vote of no-confidence may be initiated by the general membership to have the whole Board replaced. Information concerning this action is located in Article IV. Board; Section 5. Removal from Office.
